Gettin' ready to Poach MRG - epic day!

Gettin' ready to Poach MRG, on assignment from TG - epic day!

Just caught wind this week that a good friend of mine, Toby Grubb cruised out from his position as a huge part of the design dept. at Burton… He’s been killing it over there for years, and I’m pumped to see what he does next (you should be too!) -

Right after I met Toby he brought me out on one of my first big photo missions… I was to capture the poach of Mad River Glen in VT (A resort that remains exclusive to skiers) – I met up with a crew at 80 Industrial in Burlington at 5AM – We all jumped on three coach buses and cruised to Mad River. After a long hike, a massive group of snowboarders dressed up in white painting suits with face-masks was ready to descend on Mad River on the day of their dedication of the new and improved single chair (who doesn’t want to ride the lift with their buddies? MRG’s got it backwards for sure!). We had an amazing, and hard earned ride down to the base area where we passed out donuts to the skiers who greeted us with some smiles, some frowns, and some offers to cut our snowboards in half to make skis so we could ride with them for the rest of the day (no one took that one up…). It was a day for the books, and it was so much fun to be shooting for Toby – he pushed my photos around the ranks and really helped me out by having me shoot that day -THANKS SO MUCH TOBY!

Looks like the crew at Burton had a big send off for the dude, check it on blotto’s site here!

And to see some real swell design work check out www.tobygrubb.com

Thanks again Toby – see ya soon!

Govy + Ramp Crew

Ramp crew at High Cascade Snowboard Camp...

Ramp crew at High Cascade Snowboard Camp, Mt. Hood - Oregon...

I took the last remaining part of my drive up to Mt. Hood in Oregon a few days ago. Leaving the Tahoe sun wasn’t sweet, knowing full well that Hood had been getting rain at the base for the past month… but the sun will come out in Oregon, and Hood’s the spot to be in the summer, so I’m fully pumped to be here! The drive up the 395/5 was sweet – some amazing forests and burn zones, wild to see different levels of regrowth in the trees.

By the end of the drive I had dropped a cool 4,776 miles on the ol’ Subaru – kinda heavy, but that was too much fun to pass up! So glad to see everyone on the way out!

Anyway I’m up at Hood now, haven’t moved into my house for the summer so I still kind of feel like I’m on a road trip – I’ll post up some pics of whatever dwelling I’m assigned once I get into it… But for now I have some photos of High Cascade’s Ramp crew who have been working ‘rain or shine’ (there hasn’t been any shine though…) for the last month and a half to build up the new bowls.

These guys work soooo hard to get these ramps going – Heck yeah!

Out with the old, in with the new – these ramps look like soooo much fun!

Come on up…
