I was back at my parents house today doing some design work. My pops decided to work at home too, and we had some cannolis. To his dismay, I decided to make a quick flick of him making/eating his Cannoli… Like I’ve said, I’m trying to figure out this whole video thing… Maybe one day I’ll make something awesome, but until then – here’s ‘NOW THAT’s Cookin’ (With Big Lew!)…
While Sugarloaf’s snow was melting out, the park crew had decided to push up a big ol’ jump for some end of the season sessions. This landed a big crew of riders from the East up at the resort deep in Maine… We all rolled in around noon on Friday to find a pretty soggy situation, as it was pouring rain – an easy call was made to kick it at the condo, and wait for clearer skies the following day. Around the East, we tend to send it regardless of whether we are riding or not, so we dropped in and partied hard… The next day we woke up to sunny skies and got down to business at Sugarloaf…

The above photo is Yale C. spinning back 7 while holding onto my gear, set up remote to fire the camera… Starting to see more images like this showing up in snowboarding these days, definitely a new way to work/experiment…
While it’s still snowing up in the mountains on the West, I’m back east, and I’ve found myself watching the spring thaw for the last few weeks. While I’m not bitter, and I’m still backing the fact that the East is the best place to be a snowboarder, it is true that the seasons here are among the shortest in the Universe. Ever.
Seeing as I’m not bitter, I’d like to usher the East’s winter out with some snaps from the first sessions that I had this side of the Mississippi in the fall… Here’s to the EAST!

Chris Beresford 5-0 through a wooden kink in his hometown - he said he's been eyeing this one up since Jr. High...
Even though there is no snow left in the eastern lowlands, some mountains have still been pushing up the remainder of their slowly melting jumps, pipes, and hips into massive park features for some ‘ender sessions.’ I’m headed up to Maine tomorrow for what will most likely be my last ’snow’ shoot on the East this season…
Check back for a post on the Maine trip in a few days…
While shooting photos for Signal Snowboards on their 2010 winter RV tour, I started to try making some videos. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and I know that in the future, photogs will have to be avid videographers as well – so I figured hell, why not start doing something with the gray days when I can’t shoot… Doesn’t make for the most ‘epic’ flicks, but I had some fun for sure! This was my first video… Shot it on a party cam… forgot to clean the lens… Rookie… Of the year? Probly not…
Jin Saito shredding on an icy overcast day at Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia… There was a pretty wily banked slalom set-up… And Banana Samurai action for filler…
The initial cruise was to Mt. Snow for a Thursday morning session with Yale, John n’ Shaun Murphy (no, they are not related), Haddock, and Ian Keay. Mt. Snow put in a huge effort to build a few banger features for this private session, and the riders were thanking them by sending it hard off of the step ups, booters, and boxes. Definitely came away with what I needed…
Thanks to all that made this one happen -
Johnny Murphy and Yale getting ready for first drop. It was Johnny's birthday - and his qoute was "If I had a few G's to do anything for my birthday, I'da built this exact set-up..."
After the Mount Snow shoot, I cruised up to Burlington to kick it with my crew! Brendan and Adam showed up for the weekend and we sent off Mikey Fitz on his tour with James Taylor (True Story, the kid’s off to film as part of a camera crew on JT’s summer tour…). Aside from all the catchin’ up, there was a good parking garage skate session (The outdoor session got nixed due to some rain), running into soo many good friends, and plenty of lettin’ loose up in VT!
Skatin'
Brendan, amidst the riff raff at Mike and Nick's - I lived with Mikey when I was up in Burlington, and his parents laced us up with this couch... the best!
My friend Laura Austin has been writing up a sweet blog over at Rad Collector – she recently got at me for a quick interview, with some photos etc… Check it out here!
