VT w/e

March 28th, 2010 Aaron No comments

A good old fashioned  weekend in VT – started off checking out the JLA show at Burton, some amazing work, and great people out to celebrate the life of a rad dude… Then a good night out with Fitz and crew, running into everyone up in Burlington!

Next day was a Sugarbush session where Matty and the Rhythm guys put on a good rail Jam in conjunction with Sugarbush Parks – Everyone from Yale ‘Mr. Biggs’ C. to Luke ‘Hamster Cage’ Haddock, and Johnny ‘The Hamburgler’ Murphy was in attendance, but Shaun Murphy, who has been putting on a hell of a show on his snowboard this season took the win.

Tony, boasting a stacked park full of the east's best riders - this guy has fully transformed Sugarbush's parks... heard he's got some good maple syrup as well...

After a crazy night in the Sugarbush Valley, I cruised home today on Rt. 100 to check out the waterfalls…

Last Call!

March 24th, 2010 Aaron No comments

Last Call at Loon popped off earlier today with yet another epic set-up from the highly acclaimed Loon Mountain Park Staff. A size-able channel gap, a rhythm section, along with a 24 foot quarter pipe greeted some of the top dogs on the east. Glad to see so many friends out there, and awesome to see Loon keeping things real on the EAST!

Back East!

After driving down the coast a ways, we ended up in Tahoe. It was time to head back east for a few late season park shoots in the coming weeks – I hopped a plane to Boston and cruised on home…

Seattle!

After a few good days in the backcountry at Baker we cruised down to Seattle. I got to hang out with my good bud Audi Drury, his roomate Jamie, and her St. Bernards, Moose and Sophie… So much fun – such a rad town…

Lumo Pro + 4×4 lightstands…

March 11th, 2010 Aaron No comments

This is a two pronged post about lighting…

First off, the ‘Lumo Pro LP120′ flash which my good friend AJ turned me onto a little while back – these things are awesome! They were developed in conjunction with Strobist.com (A rad website that will tell you how to light stuff without spending huge amounts of money on ’studio’ strobes). The LP 120s have some awesome sync chords (included in the package with the flash) for use with transmitters. One of my favorite things about these speedlights is that they have an on board ‘eye slave mode’ which is super sensitive to trigger when your other lights fire, be them on camera or other off camera strobes – extremely convenient for easily and quickly adding another flash to your set-up -

Second part of this post is about using whatever the heck you want as a lightstand… On this particular day I decided last minute to set up another flash to shoot a feature we had been setting up. I took out the Lumo-Pro and set it to that eye-slave mode before realizing that I hadn’t brought another light stand out for this flash – I looked around and quickly found a 4×4 to post the flash up on – I dug a quick hole with an avalanche shovel that I had in my pack and posted up the piece of wood… voila, I had my lightstand and was good to go…

Oh Canada?

March 9th, 2010 Aaron No comments

The push through the border was pretty heavy… but I guess some hang ups are expected when you try and get 100 feet of gear, trucks, sleds, and an international crew though border patrol. A couple of hundred kilomometers through the border we made it to Calgary, picked up Signal’s Western Canada Rep, Phil George and Canadian super-shred Chris Dufficy. Between cruising through Banff, Golden and Revelstoke – this leg of the trip has taken me to some spots that I’ve always dreamed about. Can’t wait to get back to those zones for further exploration and shooting…

Here’s some snaps -

No need to double up on the sleds on the way out at Golden BC - if it's steep enought to ride? Send'er!
