W/E = Seattle

August 30th, 2010 Aaron No comments

5:59 on Friday there were no such thing as weekend plans for Aaron… But 6 o’clock rolled around and my mind was set on tripping up to Seattle. I kicked it with my pal Audi Drury, and he showed me all the city had to offer… Soccer games, fish markets, locks on the river, and bear sized dogs – check it!:

Pikes Place was the first stop... insane market, open every day, all year... if you're in Seattle this is the spot for...

Audi took me to check out the Locks - I've cruised through some locks in my day, but these things are sweeet! From the ocean up into Seattles harbor, there's a pretty big difference in water levels regardless of the tide... There was a pretty dramatic difference when we were there leaving this boat in the Argosy fleet (called "Seattle Good Times III)

Audi took me to check out the Locks - I've cruised through some locks in my day, but these things always impress me - Regardless of the tide, there's a big difference in water level from the Ocean and Seattle's freshwater port due to man made damming.. There was a pretty dramatic difference when we were there - leaving this boat in the Argosy fleet (called "Seattle Good Times III) about 18 feet below the water level in the harbor when returning to port...

No worries though... pull'er in, close the locks and let gravity pump in the freshwater from the harbor side and Kabaaam, this vessel is on its way...

No worries though... pull'er in, close the locks, let gravity pump in the freshwater from the harbor side and Kabaaam, this vessel is on its way... Good solution to the damn dam issue...

Underwater however, another issue remains... Salmon swimming up stream to lay their eggs can't cruise through the dam, and the locks are not suited for this problem... I don't know too much about this situation and something tells me that the 'fish ladder' solution leaves the Salmon kinda screwed over...

Underwater however, another issue remains... Salmon swimming up-stream to lay their eggs can't cruise through the dam, and the locks are not suited for this problem... Man made fish ladders allow the Salmon a means of carrying out their business. This setup let people see the fish up close and personal as they move through the concrete replacement to natural rapids... I don't know too much about this situation but something tells me that the Salmon kinda got a raw deal here...

Audi was stoked to score some tickets to the game - heck yeah!

The game was crazy, the fans were sooo crazy! Everyone stood the whole time while yelling and screaming profanities for the majority of the match... high energy would be an understatement, and in the final minutes of the game the sounders dropped in for a winning goal - the crowd went wild (photos above...)!

I also got to see some flippin' sweet sculptures... and a babies first steps (both of which are illustrated in the above photo...I didn't know the baby but it was still pretty rad...)

Seattle has a flippin' awesome sculpture park... there's babies learning to walk everywhere you look in this town! Crazy!

And a Space Needle!

They've also got a Space Needle!

Wouldn't be a trip to Seattle without seeing my main man moose! He's lost 30 pounds but he's still flippin' huge!

Wicked sweet trip to Seattle – big thanks to Audi and his crew!

Portland’s OMSI has been holding ‘21 plus’ OMSI after dark events at their science museum off and on for the past year. With all kinds of people cruising down to the museum looking for all kinds of learning/getting wasted combos, there was truly something for everyone. From dinosaur bones to drink specials, OMSI after dark is the jumpoff! Check it!:

For the last month I’ve been working to re-up my portfolio – it seems like I get into this project around this time every year, I suppose it’s in the hopes to make bigger moves during the coming winter season.. Either way this new edition holds a bunch of new gallery snaps, along with some re-visited and re-edited photos from the past – check it! http://www.adblatt.com/ -

Youtube gem… Peter Line circa ‘96, holy mackerel! I’m not going to ramble about how ’sick’ this is, or how much ’stoke’ I got out of it, because you can check it, right about here:

Adam Hawes and I tag teamed an interview with Scotty Stevens  – it’s up on the Transworld Snow site right about here! If you read that last line too fast, you may have thought that I said that AH and I tag teamed Scott Stevens. Not the case. But seriously check out his interview, Scott’s got insane boardin’ game, he’s a good dude, and he’s got dance moves for days…

I have some photos in there alongside Joel Frasier’s snaps, hell I even have a ’sequence’ in there… And Scott’s videos are pretty fricken’ stellar as well -

Hood’s a Wrap!

August 20th, 2010 Aaron No comments

Well, everything comes to an end, and not so surprisingly, this summer followed that pattern and has wrapped up. Holy mackerel, Hood was awesome, and shooting for High Cascade was all time, again! Research shows that there are many summers forecasted far into the future, so there is no need to bum out – and hell, fall is awesome, so is winter, and spring is usually pretty darn good too!

Out of the 14,898 photos in my summer catalog, I chose the following two for this post as kind of ‘bookends’ to the summer. In between the ‘melt-out’ illustrated in these two photos of Hood’s cindercone, was one hell of  a good time, yep!

The Cindercone in early June...

Dew Tour: PDX

August 19th, 2010 Aaron No comments

Cruised down to Portland to check out the Dew Tour this past weekend – Mary and Nicole hooked up some fancy passes and we got ‘floor seats’ and all the Dew we could handle! EXTREMO

Below are some snaps from the scene – it was super fun to shoot around at an event and not have a shot list or anything… such a party! Most of this stuff was just shot with a fixed 50 on my 5D (except for a few fishier shots)… easy cruisin’ with that setup!

Check it!:

JP/JJ/JS/SC Ad

August 17th, 2010 Aaron No comments

Most of the ads for High Cascade are shot with some on hill action, or at one of our skateparks… When Preston (Boss Man) called with a new idea, JP, Jeremy, Joey Sexton, Simon C. and I headed to the lake, and got weird with it – super fun shoot, won’t give too much away.. but here are some snaps:

Just finished up the last roll of film that I had in the refrigerator this summer – Glad it survived through the summer with a house full of new roomates…. “Blatt’s got his own personal stash of butter? Fuji Butter?” But seriously I’m still loving that Fujichrome E6 100 – go pick some up!
